Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs flank steak, sliced into thin strips against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp cold water
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish
  • Steamed rice for serving

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.

  2. 2

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and brown sugar. Set aside.

  3. 3

Pat steak strips dry with paper towels. Toss with 1 tbsp vegetable oil, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper.

  4. 4

Arrange broccoli on the prepared sheet pan. Drizzle with 1 tbsp vegetable oil and season lightly with salt.

  5. 5

In a large bowl, toss steak strips with the cornstarch until evenly coated.

  6. 6

Spread steak and broccoli in a single layer on opposite sides of the sheet pan.

  7. 7

Roast in the preheated oven for 8 minutes. Remove from oven.

  8. 8

Pour the soy sauce mixture over the steak and broccoli. Toss everything together on the pan.

  9. 9

Return to oven and roast another 6-8 minutes until steak is caramelized and broccoli is tender-crisp.

  10. 10

Remove from oven. Drizzle with sesame oil if desired.

  11. 11

Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately over steamed rice.

Pro Tips

💡

Slice flank steak very thin against the grain for the most tender results.

💡

Toss broccoli with a little oil before roasting so it doesn't dry out in the hot oven.

💡

For extra glossy sauce, stir in a tiny bit of honey or brown sugar at the end.
